FAQ

How many people are there per raft?
Our rafts are specially designed for their suitability and performance in the rapids of the Kicking Horse River. We use high-quality, 100% self-bailing stern guided rafts ranging from 15 feet to 17.5 feet that will comfortably carry 8-10 passengers. The raft capacity is 10-12 depending on the boat model.

Is rafting safe?
There are inherent risks involved in whitewater rafting. We have an excellent safety record with only bumps and bruises since our inception in 1984. We take pride in having safely guided over 57,000 rafters down the Kicking Horse. Our river guides are licensed by the BC Government and are trained in first aid and river rescue.

I've never gone rafting. Can I still do the trip with the most whitewater?
The majority of our guests have never been rafting before. All our trips are suitable for first time rafters. Our guides will demonstrate proper paddle techniques and commands. You will have time to get comfortable in the raft and ask lots of questions.

What should I wear?
Weather conditions vary from month to month however river attire generally does not. We provide you with a wetsuit, booties, and a spray jacket. We ask that you bring a bathing suit, towel and non-cotton sweater or jacket. Don't forget clothes to change into after your trip. Cameras aren't recommended unless they are waterproof. Sunglasses can be worn provided they are fastened with a stap. These items can be purchased at our office the day of your trip. We are not responsible for lost or damaged items.

What happens if it rains?
Whitewater rafting is fun in any type of weather, provided you are properly dressed. We raft daily rain or shine, and you'll get wet either way. Don't forget your non-cotton sweater or jacket if it's a cool day.

What about alcohol?
Drinking is not permitted before or while you are engaged in whitewater rafting. Anyone who is drinking or appears to be intoxicated before the trip will be denied participation. Refunds or alternate dates will not be given.
